The Lenovo ThinkSystem SR250 occupies a single rack unit at 43.0mm high, 434.4mm wide and 497.8mm deep, weighing up to 12.3kg fully configured. Two front panel layouts are offered: a four-bay model taking simple-swap or hot-swap 3.5-inch SAS/SATA drives, and a ten-bay 2.5-inch hot-swap model that supports up to eight SAS/SATA drives plus two NVMe bays for applications that need faster local storage. The front operator panel and optional VGA are positioned for straightforward rack access, with USB 2.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports also at the front. Unlike the dual-socket ThinkSystem servers aimed at consolidated virtualisation, the SR250 (Type 7Y51/7Y52) is built around a single Intel processor socket accepting Core, Pentium, Celeron or Xeon E family CPUs. Four DDR4 UDIMM slots take ECC memory running at up to 2666MT/s, with a supported range of 8GB to 128GB — enough for departmental applications, directory services or a handful of lightly loaded VMs rather than dense consolidation. Storage flexibility is one of the SR250's strongest points for its class. 3.5-inch models provide up to four simple-swap or hot-swap SAS/SATA bays, while 2.5-inch models scale to ten hot-swap bays, two of which can be configured for NVMe drives to give a fast storage tier alongside bulk SAS/SATA capacity. Two PCIe slots at the rear accept additional RAID or HBA controllers, network cards or other expansion as the workload requires. Rear connectivity includes two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one of which doubles as the shared XClarity Controller management port, alongside a dedicated XCC network connector for genuine out-of-band access, two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, serial and VGA. Power is supplied by either a fixed single PSU or an optional redundant dual-PSU configuration depending on the unit. These specifications put the SR250 firmly in entry rack server territory: branch office infrastructure, file and print services, directory and DNS/DHCP roles, light application hosting and remote or edge deployments where a full dual-socket platform would be overkill. Because Lenovo sold large volumes of the SR250 into SMB and branch refresh programmes, refurbished units come through in good supply with plenty of service life left in the DDR4 and Xeon E platform, making them a sensible way to deploy standardised entry-level infrastructure without paying new-unit pricing for a generation Lenovo has since superseded.

60–80% Cost Savings vs New
12 months Full Warranty
100% Tested & Certified
Better for the Planet Extending the life of enterprise hardware keeps electronics out of landfill and reduces the carbon footprint of manufacturing new equipment. Every refurbished server is one less in the waste stream.
Significant Cost Savings Enterprise-grade hardware at a fraction of the new price. Deploy more compute power for your budget, whether you're building a homelab, scaling infrastructure, or equipping a development team.
Enterprise-Grade Quality Server and workstation hardware is built for 24/7 operation in demanding data centre environments. These machines are engineered to last — refurbished units have years of reliable service ahead.
Professionally Refurbished Every unit is stripped down, cleaned, inspected, and rebuilt by our experienced engineers. Components are tested individually and as a complete system before grading and dispatch.
