Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 - 2U Dual-Socket Rack Server
The SR650 is Lenovo's mainstream 2U rack platform, built around second-generation Intel Xeon Platinum processors and a drive bay layout flexible enough to run as a dense storage node or a high-density compute host.
With two CPU sockets supporting chips up to 205W and 24 DIMM slots addressable up to 7.5TB using Optane DC Persistent Memory, this generation was pitched squarely at virtualisation clusters, database tiers and mixed workloads that needed headroom without moving to 4U.
Storage configurations range from 14x 3.5in bays through to 24x 2.5in NVMe-capable bays, paired with up to 7 PCIe 3.0 expansion slots and hardware RAID controllers offering up to 24 ports with flash cache backup.
Each SR650 is configured to order at Compuwyze, so you choose the processor pairing, memory capacity, drive bay layout and RAID controller to match the workload rather than buying a fixed spec off the shelf.
All hard drives are tested to 100% health · All SSDs are tested to 90-100% health

Typical Use Cases
- Virtualisation hosts running VMware ESXi, Hyper-V or Proxmox
- SQL Server and Oracle database servers needing large memory footprints
- Software-defined storage nodes using Ceph or Storage Spaces Direct with all-NVMe backplanes
- General-purpose application and file servers requiring hot-swap drive, fan and PSU redundancy
- High-density VDI hosts consolidating large numbers of desktop sessions
- Media and file storage builds using 14x 3.5in bay configurations for bulk capacity
- Backup targets and secondary storage tiers with mixed SAS/SATA/NVMe AnyBay bays
