The 2029BT-HNC1R packs four independent, hot-pluggable server nodes into a single 2U chassis, each running its own dual-socket motherboard, memory pool and storage bays. It's Supermicro's answer to hosting providers who need to squeeze maximum compute density out of limited rack space without sacrificing per-node redundancy.
Each node takes two LGA 3647 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Cascade Lake or Skylake) with up to 28 cores apiece, backed by 24 DIMM slots supporting up to 6TB of DDR4-2933 RDIMM or LRDIMM, with Optane DCPMM support on Cascade Lake parts.
Storage per node is flexible: six SAS3 hot-swap 2.5" bays, or four NVMe plus two SAS3, driven by an onboard Broadcom 3108 controller with hardware RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60. Networking runs through a mandatory SIOM card slot, keeping fabric choice open per deployment.
